What is a heat-loss survey? Simply put, a heat-loss survey is the first step in Thermaxx’s insulation process, providing the customer with wealth of useful information. This no-cost energy analysis is the baseline for all Thermaxx insulation projects. It also provides customers with a comprehensive insulation opportunity report. Projects include, but are not limited to insulation for:

  • Steam systems
  • Condensate systems
  • Hot-water components
  • Cold-water components

The report is compiled by one of our experienced field technicians during an initial site visit. Using our in house smart phone app, field technicians identify potential opportunities for thermal energy savings and document characteristics unique to each component. This information includes:

  • Specific asset identification
  • Individual component locations
  • Accurate pressure and temperature readings
  • Hours of operation
All this information and more is use to calculate the savings potential and return on investment for our customers.

A Thermaxx heat-loss report helps our customers in many ways. Most notably, our detailed survey a quick and easy way to say your potential for energy SAVINGS! It also include:

  • Total annual dollar savings
  • Total annual energy savings (in Therms)
  • Calculated ROI (Return on Investment) in months
  • Savings (dollar and energy) by individual asset

Thermaxx uses NAIMA’s 3E plus software to verify and calculate the BTU loss on the bare vs. insulated components. This process not only highlights potential savings, but also focuses on areas that may present possible workplace hazards to those working nearby.

Along with promoting energy savings and workplace safety, our heat-loss report is used to help the understanding of how missing insulation can affect day-to-day operations. Our heat-loss reports are highly transparent, allowing customers to review and understand in detail what opportunity have been identified, while also giving an easy to understand overview. Below is an example of a completed heat loss report.  Thermaxx walks our customers through how to read and understand this valuable tool in order to make informed investment decisions.

The heat-loss report also acts as a scope of work to be followed in each step of a Thermaxx insulation project. The information is clear, concise and presentable to local gas companies to help qualify for facility wide incentive opportunities.

Once a project is completed, the same information collected on the heat-loss report is transferred to our sister company, Slate Pages, a user-friendly asset tracking and management system for our customers personal use. This platform provides our customers with:

  • A view of the entire scope of work
  • Ability to easily track individual assets
  • Pre and post install pictures
  • GPS location for each jackets
  • Storage for all maintenance records tied to each individual assets.
This makes post-inspections seamless and gives facility managers a completely customizable maintenance journal.
