Case Study: Genesee Brewing

Genesee Brewing Company, has been brewing beer since 1878.  They are based out of Rochester, NY, with over 500 people.  In 2012, they converted a 9,200 square foot packaging center, part of the original 100 year old Genesee Brewery campus, into a brew house that today is a destination for tours, beer tastings, and food.

This year, the company had been looking for a solution to protect their outdoor mechanical components from the harsh elements of upstate New York all year round, specifically their outdoor HP Steam Line. Genesee Brewing wanted to use a removable jacket for a 6” Gate Valve. Thermaxx sales team member, Trevor Healey, had already developed a relationship with Dalton while working as an Account Manger at the Rochester branch of Thermaxx's parent company, SPI. Trevor had been a resource to Dalton for a few years already, and reached out to Trevor directly to help with this application.  Dalton trusted that Trevor, and Thermaxx, would guide him to the best possible solution to this outdoor insulation challenge.

After reviewing the specifics for this scenario, Thermaxx found the best solution for an outdoor 6” Gate Valve to be a custom engineered removable insulation blanket with an interior made from Pyrogel® XTE. Thermaxx's previous experience helped them provide assurance that Pyrogel® XTE would provide the best interior material for outdoor applications, while also providing a solution custom designed to fit the Brewery's specific needs. Genesee Brewing Company chose to go with Thermaxx because they offered a solution within the company's budget and tight lead time to complete the project.

Before: Uninsulated 6" Gate Valve After: Insulated 6" Gate Valve
